What is Nursing?

Nursing is a profession dedicated to taking care of people who are sick or injured and fostering health for a better quality of life for an individual, family and community at large. In other words, the focus of the nursing profession is upon protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury and alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries. How to Pursue the Course?

The eligibility criteria for for a course in nursing in India depends upon the type of course one is opting for. However, for majority of courses the minimum requisite is 10+2 or any other examination equivalent to it. Courses in Nursing include Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (ANM), General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) and B.Sc. Nursing(Regular & Correspondence).. In many cases admission to B.Sc. (Nursing) is based on entrance exams. Some exams require Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English background with a minimum qualifying percentage(45-55%) and age (above 17 and below 35 Years) as the criteria.
